Check out our Parents Page to see what's happening this month in JourneyKids!
Children are loved and valued at Journey Covenant Church, and our ministry to kids of all ages is a high priority. On Sunday morning, children (from kindergarten to 5th grade) worship with their parents during the first part of the service, then are invited to the JourneyZone for a service that is designed just for them.

JourneyKids is a discipleship ministry engaging children in prayer, scripture reading and memorization, fun videos, offering of gifts and talents, singing, biblical stories and lessons, crafts and skits. We want JourneyKids to be fun, to grab kids' attention so that Jesus can grab their hearts, with lessons that appeal to all different kinds of learners and material that is biblically and educationally sound.

Our curriculum is built around three basic truths, which we amplify through monthly themes and Bible stories.
- Wisdom: I Need to Make the Wise Choice
- Faith: I Can Trust God No Matter What
- Friendship: I Should Treat Others the Way I Want to be Treated

The Three Basic Truths are amplified through monthly virtues (such as kindness or generosity) and Bible stories. Every week there is a key TRUTH or bottom line that we drive home. It's the ONE THING we want kids to understand and grab onto during their time in JourneyZone.

We use 252Basics curriculum, named after the scriptural passage in Luke 2:52 - "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." We want our children to grow, as Jesus did, in wisdom, faith (favor with God) and friendship (favor with men).

Parents can learn more about our curriculum at www.252basics.org.

Just as their parents don't leave their faith behind when they exit the Sunday morning service, we want our children to continue to develop their relationship with God and grow in faith with the daily guidance and help of their parents throughout the rest of the week. Children will bring home from JourneyKids each week an update so that their parents have each week's Core Virtue, Memory Verse, Bottom Line (key concept), a question to ask kids, and a preview of the next week's session. They will also bring home GodTime Cards, which focus their attention as they spend time reading the Bible and talking to God at home.

Our goal at JourneyKids is to partner with parents to provide our children with the skills, experiences and resources to become Christ-like disciples.
